This week, the Scottish Government published its latest quarterly employment figures. It revealed that, in the three months to June, the number of people in work rose by 14,000, or 0.5%, to 549,000.
This is a significant increase on the previous quarter, but it is still below the pre-crisis peak of 582,000, and lower than the long-term average of 563,000.
However, there are some encouraging signs in the data. The number of people in work is now at a record high, and there are now more people in work than at any time since the second quarter of 2013.
There has also been a marked increase in the number of women in work, and in particular, women in full-time employment.
There are also signs of progress on the long-term goal of achieving gender equality in employment. The number of women in full-time employment is now at a record high, and the number of women in part-time employment has also risen.
But the Scottish Government also revealed that the number of people in full-time work has declined, and the number of people in part-time work has increased.
This is a worrying trend, and is indicative of the impact of the Brexit vote on the labour market.
It is also a concern that the number of people in full-time employment has declined.

Is Glasgow rough?
If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you’ll know I’m a little bit obsessed with Glasgow. I’m obsessed with Glasgow because it’s one of the most vibrant, exciting and friendly cities in the world, and I want to share that with you.
But before we get into the good stuff, I’ve got a confession to make: I’m not a Glaswegian. I’ve lived in Glasgow for the past four years, but I’m originally from Belfast, which I’ve been told is a lot like Glasgow.
Now I’ve been to Glasgow a few times, and I’ve been to Belfast a few times, but the truth is, I’m not an expert on either city. I’m not a local, and I don’t really have the kind of in-depth knowledge of the place that I have of places I’ve lived for longer than a year, like Brighton or London.
But what I do know is that the two cities have very similar character. They’re both very warm and friendly, they’re both full of great pubs, they’re both full of great food, they’re both full of great music and they’re both full of great nightlife.
That’s why I’m going to be talking about Glasgow today, because I want to give you a little taste of what it’s like to live in Glasgow, and to see it through the eyes of a visitor.
