During the transition, the online store had a number of team members working in a shared office space. This included product managers, customer success managers, and the online store itself.
There were a number of benefits to this shared office space:

The office space was centralized. This allowed the team to have a consistent space to work in.
This setup is often the best option for a client who is transitioning from a physical retail store to an online store.

Update: Microsoft has responded to a request for more information. “This job posting is for a global role. The role is based in India. The job is not remote,” a spokesperson told us.
If the role was really remote, why would they have to pay to travel to India?
Isn’t that kind of silly?
Sure, if you’re not interested in the job then this is just a waste of your time, but I think that would be a pretty rare occurrence.
I’d imagine this is more of a case of Microsoft looking for a senior level of person to fill the position in India, and since they couldn’t find someone local to fill the role they decided to pay for someone to travel to India.

Will remote work continue 2021?
As COVID-19 continues to impact business and communities across the country, remote work will continue for at least another 12 months.
That’s the message from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, which on Wednesday released its annual Workplace Index, a survey of 1,200 employers in the private sector that ranks the top cities in Canada for business conditions.
The index found that the majority of small businesses are staying open, and most are making use of technology and telecommuting to help their employees cope with the challenges of the pandemic.

“We’re already seeing a trend of organizations using remote work,” said Carla Lamarre, the CFIB’s director of public policy. “When it comes to remote work, the situation is very different depending on the industry.”
There are exceptions. Retailers, for example, are finding it hard to continue doing business remotely. Retailers have been closing stores, and online sales have been in decline. Restaurants, hotels and other service industries are continuing to operate as usual.
“It’s a very different situation in the retail industry,” Ms. Lamarre said. “Most of the workers are either out of the office or working from home, and those that aren’t have been offered a lot of job protection.
